When it comes to moving, nothing can be as nerve wrecking and stress inducing as making sure that you properly move fragile items. Luckily, there are a few tips that you can use to ensure that your fragile items – like glass and valuable China – will be properly moved. Throughout the course of this brief article, you will learn about just a few of those tips.

Adequately Prepare

Packing up fragile items is not an incredibly easy task. Give yourself some leeway when it comes to packing these items up and make sure there is plenty of time available for you to make sure that they are properly stored. When packing fragile items, it is recommended that you give yourself upwards of four hours to pack these items, give or take a few hours depending on how many fragile items you have. This is especially the case if you have movers: make packing these fragile items a priority. There are specific boxes marketed towards those moving fragile items. They are far more insulated and they tend to work quite well. Medium sized boxes should be used, otherwise. Make sure that they are insulated with with crumpled newspaper on the top and bottom of the box. Never, ever overpack when it comes to packing fragile items. This can, of course, lead to cracks and breakage in the items.

Let Movers Know

If you have hired a moving company for the task of moving your stuff from Point A to Point B, it is imperative that you let them know which boxes are full of fragile items. Make sure you make this point pointedly and thoroughly and to literally every mover that will be working on this job. Do not merely tell one mover and expect him or her to tell the rest of the crew, but make it a point to tell each individual mover on the team. It is also important that all of the boxes full of fragile items are specifically and blatantly labeled in all capital letters as being "FRAGILE." This will ensure that the movers will see the label. It may also be in your best interest to tell the moving company themselves how many boxes of fragile items you will be moving in order to get the point across in the most salient way.

Hopefully, this brief guide has given you some idea of the importance of carefully packing and moving fragile items.
